Reactors

The MMR is a 5 or 10 MWe gas-cooled, graphite-moderated thermal spectrum advanced reactor. It is fueled by Ultra Safe Nuclear Corp.'s own Fully Ceramic Microencapsulated (FCM), TRISO-based fuel and is designed for 20+ years without refueling. In this design, power production, power conversion and electricity generation are integrated into a single factory-fabricated vessel. A service agreement is under development as part of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission's Pre-Licensing Vendor Design Review process.

The Canadian SCWR is a pressure tube-type supercritical water-cooled, heavy water-moderated thermal spectrum reactor with an output of 2540 MWt/1200 MWe.

The LC-E-SSTAR is a lead-cooled, liquid oxide or nitride-fueled fast spectrum liquid metal reactor with a sealed "cartridge core" that operates for 15 years without refueling.

LEADIR-PS100 is a 100 MWt/36MWe lead-cooled, TRISO-fueled, graphite-moderated pebble bed reactor.

The G4M is a liquid metal-cooled, fast spectrum small, modular reactor technology initially developed by scientists at Los Alamos National Labs and obtained by Gen4 Energy (then Hyperion Power) via a technology transfer agreement. This lead-bismuth eutectic-cooled, uranium nitride-fueled reactor with a capacity of 70 MWt/25MWe is designed such that the fueled and sealed reactor vessel may be transported in a conventional shipping cask and for 10 year operation without refueling, during which the reactor vessel remains sealed.

The SMR-160 is a 525 MWt/160 MWe small modular pressurized water reactor operating in the thermal spectrum, fueled by low enriched uranium oxide.

A 160 MWe light-water cooled and moderated reactor featuring dry cooling, below-ground installation and passively functioning thermal-hydraulic systems.

These two light water-cooled and moderated reactors are smaller design variants of NuScale's larger SMR, in the 1-10 MWe size range. Both designs can operate for 10+ years without refueling. The single-unit NPM relies on commercially available uranium, while the reduced size NPM would rely on high-assay low enriched uranium. Both designs utilize highly automated control rooms, rely on natural circulation for cooling, and are capable of flexible electricity/heat generation for DOD facilities, towns, and industry.

The 50 MWt/15 MWe Thorenco reactor operates in the thermal/epithermal spectrum and is cooled by natural circulation at full power, with eutectic sodium and beryllium fluoride coolant. The thorium-uranium-sodium-beryllium-fluoride fuel salt is contained within Hastelloy-nickel cladding in a honeycomb geometry, and the reactor is designed to operate for 10 years without refueling.

The LFTR is a fluoride salt-fueled, graphite-moderated, thorium-fueled thermal spectrum molten salt reactor. Thorium-232 is converted into uranium-233 in a breeding blanket to fuel this 600 MWt/250MWe reactor.
